Many community organizations and legal clinics are pushing for access to CCB for all children in Canada, regardless of their parents’ status in this country.

Earlier this month, the Willowdale Community Legal Clinic initiated a petition that was endorsed by their local MP, Han Dong.

The petition calls on the government “to to reduce child poverty and alleviate the hardships faced by children and women in Canada by allowing all children who are residents of Canada access to Canada Child Benefit payments, irrespective of the immigration status of their parents.”

Here’s a link to the petition:

This is to inform you that petition e-3347 initiated by Gillian Reiss, which you have supported, has been published and is open for signature.

If, by May 23, 2021, 500 residents of Canada sign the petition, the government will be forced to answer the question of the MP on this issue.

This process aims to shed light on this issue not only in Parliament but with the general public. Alongside the litigation initiatives of the Chinese & Southeast Asian Legal Clinic, we hope to be able to achieve this goal which would benefit so many of our clients.

We ask you to also push this out through social media.  If you do so, please use the attached graphic and hashtag #CCBJustice.

Please consider supporting and signing, and please share widely.
